These assignments are designed not only to maintain skills, but to serve as a jumping-off point for the new school year. They will directly connect to classroom instruction and will count as students’ first major grade. All assignments are due on the first day of school, so we encourage students to plan ahead and work steadily throughout the summer.
For reading, ALL students (on-level, honors, dual enrollment, and AP) must complete a reading assignment. The summer reading is the same for every student in the same grade.
For math, each course has a specific set of assignments based on the course scheduled for the upcoming school year. Students who successfully completed Pre-Calculus will not have a summer math assignment.
We are also excited to offer an additional opportunity for our rising 6th–9th grade students. Students may register for our Summer Reading Project Party Camp (link to Summer Camps), taking place July 13–15. During this camp, students will receive support from their English teachers and, if they arrive having already read their assigned book, will have the opportunity to complete their summer reading project during the three days of camp. All proceeds from the camp will go directly back into the Weatherford Christian School English Department budget.
PDFs for the math and reading assignments by grade level are also attached below to download. Please notice that most assignments require a handwritten student work section. Additionally, students will need a hard copy of the assigned summer reading in class the first two weeks of school.
As we pursue growth and wisdom, we are reminded in Scripture:
“The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.” — Proverbs 18:15
